| CTA Computational Thermal Analysis |
About the Course Computational thermal analysis (CTA) is a critical discipline that drives all stages of the engineering design process. It has evolved as a sub-discipline of engineering analogous to CFD. The present course provides a singular focus on the thermal analysis process, providing a unique perspective by developing all concepts with practical examples. The course will take the student inside the basic simulation codes used today, giving them the ability to understand and appreciate all phases of the thermal modelling process. | CFD Computational Fluid Dynamics |
About the Course Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has emerged as one of the single most important tools to today's engineers. It has become a mainstay in design and analysis for every discipline, from aeroheating, electronics cooling, tank slosh to bio-fluid modelling. The importance of CFD analysis cannot be overstated, and yet, the fundamentals must be stressed in order to have code-users that can understand the limitations of their computational models. With this, the present course focuses on the introductory elements of CFD. In particular, the basis of the present CFD course is detailed understanding of the advection-diffusion processes which define the governance of CFD codes. The CFD course will parallel the CTA course, but is dedicated to the closure of the triad of thermo-fluid equations solved in CFD analysis. Click here for more information on the CFD course |
| Course Deliverables Each student will receive the following deliverables with their tuition for either of the above courses |
|
| | Complete bound hard copy of lecture overheads (black and white) |
| | CD-ROM containing each entire lecture series in complete color readable with Adobe Acrobat ® Reader TM, thermal animations (.AVI format) which are imbedded in the lecture series, keyed, played and viewed with Adobe Acrobat ® Reader TM |
| | Fully functional version of the general purpose CFD and CHT solver Hyperion-TFS and Hyperion-Mesh3D. Note the software licenses for TFS and Mesh3D will be a single annual license extending one year from the date of the course. |
